The dreamy landscape of the forests in south-eastern Bohemia offers a unique sight, the last narrow gauge railway in the Czech Republic. The rails, just 760 mm apart, lead from Jindřichův Hradec to Nová Bystřice in the south or to Obrataň in the north. The trains travelling along it remind us of the development of rail transport as well as giving us a romantic day out. What is more it is a living monument that you won’t see that often.

When, on the 14th of May 1993, the then Provost of Prague, Jan Koukal, opened the Museum of Public Transport in the Prague district of Střešovice he had no idea the interest the museum would generate. The permanent exhibition of the Museum of Public Transport is made up of more than four dozen historical vehicles and many other exhibits – models, photos, historical documents, tickets and maps.
